About the Event
Will Schroeer, chair of the Shared Mobility Collaborative Steering Committee, kicked off the convening by offering some background on the Collaborative. He also announced that the Collaborative has expanded to a statewide focus, and has changed its name to the "Minnesota Shared Mobility Collaborative."
Following this overview, the convening featured a series of presentations on the current state of the bike-share industry and its future in the Twin Cities. Speakers and topics included:
Elliott McFadden—current manager of MnDOT’s Greater Minnesota Shared Mobility Program, former Austin B-cycle CEO, and a founder of the North America Bike Share Association—provided an overview of where bike share is and may be heading.
Russ Brooks, mobility planner at the City of Minneapolis, gave a local perspective on the closing of NiceRide and what the City of Minneapolis is currently doing to provide bike share to its residents.
Geoff Coats, executive director of Blue Bike New Orleans, discussed how he worked with his city to bring a nonprofit, community-based bike-share service to the community after Jump bikes left the city’s market.
Brodie Hylton, executive director of Cascadia Mobility, shared perspectives from his nonprofit bike-share operation in Oregon.
Meredith Klekotka, shared mobility program manager at Metro Transit, spoke about the future of bike sharing through then lens of a transit provider.
